Mode is only one part of permission.
Separate the person, the mode, the level of delegation and the exact action before deciding what may run.

Six distinct decisions
Operating mode
Assist keeps human execution primary. Agent supports delegated execution for selected functions.
Workspace role
Owner, Admin, Operator, Reviewer and Viewer determine relevant access. Screen visibility is not action authority.
Control owner
A human or Agent may own the permitted execution path. Some decisions remain human-only in both modes.
Autonomy level
Shadow observes; Suggest proposes; Require Approval waits for an eligible person; Auto remains bounded by current permissions and gates.
Permission envelope
The maximum Workspace, function, object and provider scope. A narrower limit never grants missing upstream permission.
Per-action authority
The exact action must still satisfy readiness, approvals, limits, stop state and current revisions.
